About The Canasta Connection:
Beverlyand Emily Shire are Canasta and Mah Jongg Instructors in the Greater Boston Area and Cape Cod. As a mother-daughter duo, we have been game enthusiasts our entire lives and wish to spread the love of canasta and mah jongg to the greater community. Bev has been playing Canasta for over 60 years and Emily, who learned as a kid, has now been playing for over 30 years.
We know these games inside and out and have taught Canasta and Mah Jongg to hundreds of students through community groups such as Needham Community Education, Wellesley Council on Aging, Newton Community Education, JCC of Greater Boston, Weston Council on Aging, Orleans Senior Center, Arlington Community Education and privately both in person and online.
We have hosted social play events in the Greater Boston Area in a Brookline Private Function Room, Moldova Restaurant, Donut Villa, and Temple Emanuel, Newton. We are always looking for new locations to host social play.
Bev is a retired teacher, principal and special education administrator. Emily is a current high school special education teacher. We bring our professional knowledge of teaching, learning, and curriculum development to help break down the game in a friendly and approachable way.
